Over the weekend, as said in my previous post I went up north to San Francisco and Sacramento. This outfit was from yesterday in Sacramento.... as you can see the sunny weather was not expected. I feel like I say this in every post but I cannot express how in love I am with things that have patterns and stand out. For example, these pants. I am pretty sure I cried when I bought these at Urban Outfitters a couple of years ago. I own a lot of jeans and most of them are either patterned or a different color other than blue. The color of my pants is one of my favorite colors especially when it comes to clothing. It is just so beautiful and makes any outfit look richer than it really is. These pants are so unexpected and automatically change the entire outfit... imagine if I was just wearing blue jeans....these pants ARE the outfit. It's items like this that just make your wardrobe so diverse. When I buy any item of clothing I try to make sure it has the same shock value as these jeans because this is what sets you apart from dressing and being creative with the pieces of clothes you like and wear. I try to stay away from black because to me everything goes with it so there is no challenge of putting something new together. I know avoiding black is impossible and I am pretty sure the fashion world would not exist without it. However, sometimes it is absolutely necessary. In this case not many other colors would suit this outfit well without clashing with the pants, so yes less can be more. Of course when wearing black you must snazz it up with jewelry and take advantage of the fact that any jewelry will match if black is the background. The necklace I am wearing is actually a long necklace but I doubled the chain to make it shorter and look layered. Tip:buy really long necklaces and you can either wear them normal length or double it and make it look like a cute layered choker. Learning how to be minimal and effective is actually really hard although it seems so easy. I used to think an outfit was not complete unless it had accessories head to toe but thank goodness I grew out of that. Since I felt like I was being boring by all black besides the pants I added the fedora to add an extra oomph. So in a sense the plain of the black is balanced by another accessory which adds more style. All in all, if you actually read this I love you and thank you and the lesson of the day is to buy things with patterns. xoxo
P.S. Thank you Selena for the photography skills that is my iPhone 5s
