I wanted to do a post of an outfit that consisted entirely of clothing items I have bought at thrift stores. If I do say so myself, this outfit is pretty cute for it all being thrifted. I went thrift shopping with Karen last week in Pomona & I bought everything except the shorts. I bought the shorts a couple years back at a thrift shop in Claremont. I did not notice until I got home how the button up, vest, and boots were all great compliments of each other... maybe I bought subconsciously. I gravitate to anything that sparkles so when I saw this vest my eyes literally lit up (it could have just been the sequins reflecting in my eyes). Adding this vest to any outfit instantly takes it up a notch. Button ups are a staple item in any wardrobe because they are a "wear a million ways" garment. My dad has several old shirts like this and I always take them and tuck them into my shorts or skirts and you can never tell they came out of a dusty closet from the 80's. This button up is a boys shirt but by adding cute little shorts and the glitz and glam of the vest you could never tell. The boots are a bit boyish also but I made them a little more feminine with socks that peek out the top (a tip to add detail). You can wear this shirt open, or put it over a short dress, or tie it in the front with a cute necklace. I think it is so fun to buy stuff at thrift stores and find ways to wear it best you can. You can find such good things sometimes if you have the patience to look. Not everything you wear has to cost a lot of money or be designer. This vest is 100% silk and has so much character that I still cannot believe I only paid $3.99. Buying shoes at a thrift store can be a bit skeptical sometimes but I have done it before and they have always been fine. These are almost brand new looking and soooo comfortable. Challenge yourself to go thrifting and buy things because it keeps you thinking and lets you be more creative about how you dress since you don't have a mannequin modeling the piece for you and giving you tips on how to wear something. Happy thrifting, may the deals be ever in your favor :)
