Silk Scarf

Faux Leather Overalls: Forever 21 Bell Bottomed sleeve blouse: boohoo Nylons: Nordstrom Ankle boots: ASOS Silk Scarf: Nordstrom Sunglasses: Ray Bans I did not know the text part of the post did not post originally. The scarf is the main part of this outfit and it can be worn more ways than around your neck. You could tie it around your purse, or tie it in your hair with an up-do. Black and red are classics when combined together.

Sweater Weather

Long Duster Sweater: Tilly's White tee: L.A. Hearts by Pacsun Black suede bell bottoms: Tilly's Tan ankle boots: Cathy Jean Over shoulder purse: Valentina Rings: They were my grandma's  Necklace: Charming Charlie  Tilly's has some really timeless pieces considering they are not 'high fashion' retail. The pants and sweater have so much style for a fraction of the price elsewhere. To keep the style consistent, I went for a bohemian look with the bell bottom pants, fringed bag, and a dramatically long crochet sweater. People may associate all these things with being too 70's looking, but it does not have to be that way. It is rather hard to pair closed toe shoes with wide legged pants because it can quickly look awkward, but if you choose a contrasting color to a small detail like the strap on the purse it will tie in nicely. Sweaters have slowly assimilated into the world of designer and...

Rainbow Vibes

Plaid Dress: Forever 21  Calvin Klein jacket: It is Karen's (I want it) Cut-out ankle boots: TOPSHOP Reflective shades: Also Karen's.... (I also want them) Karen and I were reunited which means some fun fashion times. I have been wanting her to do my makeup because she is brave with the colors and she does it so well. I had no plan for this outfit other than I was running late to her house and I threw on something easy. I am a big fan of plaid just because you can wear it so many ways and you do not see it too often in dress form. To add some color I asked if I could wear her glasses because they somehow look good with every single outfit.... it's sorcery. Plaid can often look grunge-y and to keep that edgy look with the glasses I decided to wear my boots with the cutouts. Red is such a pretty color to play with because even when you try to play it down it is still bold, and flattering on almost all skin colors. The hat kept th...

Mixing Patterns: Stripes and Plaid

Image
Two-Toned Leather Jacket: Target (I swear) Striped Long Sleeve: Forever 21  Black Fuzzy Skirt: Thrift Store Rings: They were my grandma's  Ankle Boots: ASOS Mixing patters can be tricky. You look at magazines and see the outlandish ensembles on models and it looks amazing. Then you try to do it at home and it does not come out as good. Why is that? Well first of all, ads are made for shock value and nobody actually walks around like that, and second of all, it takes some time to get it right. The key to mixing is to match the colors rather than patterns. A lot of it is personal preference, but everybody knows what looks right and what doesn't. If some patterns are really busy, then try to distribute it or break it up with a solid color like here with the skirt. There have always been arguments against mixing the two but ideally plaid is a series of stripes in a more complicated way so there is nothing to be afraid of. ...

Faux Fur & Leather

Metallic Tank: Pacsun Mom Jeans: Liz Claiborne Two- tone Jacket: Volcom Boots: ASOS Headband: Nordstrom I don't post outfits by season because I usually come up with something random and just use it, but I wanted to try to do a more "Fall inspired" post. I 100% picked the worst day because we are basically living on the sun right now. SoCal problems. I immediately fell in love with this jacket because of the two tones. Mixing sleeves and bodies of jackets has been a trend now for awhile, but it must be done right. The jacket is so loud that I wanted something a little muted underneath, but also eye catching if the jacket comes off. The silvery look off sets the gray hues in the feathers nicely. I paired this jacket with blue jeans instead of black because I think it gives the look a more chilled out vibe. However, I would not hesitate to dress it up with a black dress and heels and some nice dangly earrings. Leather has become a very...
